Peak District National Park Authority pay-and-display (75 spaces; cards and coins, RingGo 51710). Public toilets year-round (Radar key for the disabled cubicle) and baby change. Closest official parking for the Popular End and the plantation paths onto the edge.

Smaller PDNPA pay-and-display (10 spaces; contactless only, RingGo 51706). No toilets. Useful for High Neb and the northern edge; fills early and roadside verge parking is not a substitute.

Start here on foot rather than treating the village as overflow parking. Limited signed bays; do not block residents. Station grid is OS Explorer OL1.

Busy days: Hollin Bank, Dennis Knoll and roadside lay-bys fill by mid-morning in summer. Arrive early, car-share where possible, and never park on double yellow lines or blocking farm gates.

Stay overnight

North Lees campsite

North Lees is the main campsite in the valley below Stanage Edge, operated in the Peak District National Park. It sits in woodland below the plantation, a short walk from Hathersage and the paths onto the moor.

Booking is required (online via the Peak District National Park, or email for groups larger than five). Facilities include a shower block with toilets; there are no electric hook-ups on standard pitches. Open fires, solid fuel and single-use barbecues are not permitted — use a camping stove.

Wild camping is not permitted on Stanage moor itself. Use the official campsite or accommodation in Hathersage, Bamford, or Hope.

Hathersage facilities

Shops & cafésHathersage has a small supermarket, outdoor shop, pubs, and cafés — useful for last-minute food and map sales.
ToiletsPublic toilets in Hathersage village and at Hollin Bank (PDNPA, year-round). There are no toilets at Dennis Knoll or on the edge itself — plan ahead.
Outdoor shopHathersage Outdoor sells maps, batteries, and basic hill kit if you have forgotten something.
