STANAGEGO
Register a hike from any mobile. No app required to start — text commands work on every phone with SMS.
Send LOG IN to open a new hike, or text your route and expected return time in plain English in one message. Your phone number identifies the trip — no password on SMS.
STANAGEGO may ask for your start location, return time, and emergency contact if they are not already on your profile. You can also add these in the iPhone app.
You get a confirmation text with your return deadline and mid-trip check-in time. Keep your phone charged and within signal where possible.
Text location changes, delays, or conditions as you go. A mid-trip check-in arrives at the halfway point of your estimated walk time.
Once you are safely off the hill, text LOG OUT to close the trip. Until then, STANAGEGO continues to monitor your return window.
Text these to the STANAGEGO number. Standard network SMS charges apply.

STANAGEGO monitors your registered return time. If you do not log out or reply:
After your return time passes, STANAGEGO texts you (and sends a push notification if you use the iPhone app).
If there is still no reply, your nominated contact receives a text with your name, route details, and last known position where available.
Is STANAGEGO free?
Yes. You only pay your normal mobile SMS rate to your network provider.
Do I need a smartphone?
No. Any phone that can send SMS can register and manage a trip. The iPhone app adds GPS and push alerts but is optional.
Do I need an emergency contact?
Strongly recommended. Without one, there is no one to escalate to if you are overdue and unresponsive.
Can I change my return time?
Yes — text an update such as "Running two hours late, still on track".
What if my battery dies?
Carry a power bank on long days. If you cannot log out, ask someone to call your emergency contact or dial 999 if you are in danger.
Where is the STANAGEGO number?
Published when the service is live on stanage.org and in the iPhone app after sign-in. This guides site does not host live service credentials.
